Since 1880 SU has worked in Europe, ministering to children and youth and encouraging Bible engagement and now operates within 25 European countries. We are looking for a new Regional Director as the present post holder retires at the end of 2011. Scripture Union has expanded considerably in Europe over the last fifteen years, and still faces opportunities and challenges in the future.
Applicants should have the following qualifications:
·An active spiritual life, rooted in the Bible,
·In full personal agreement with the Scripture Union International Aims, Belief and Working Principles.
·Able to embrace theological and cultural diversity,
·Enthusiastic to contribute to the future development of Scripture Union,
·and have a good understanding of the mission dimension of the movement.
We are looking for a man or woman with at least three years in a leadership or management position. We need an inspirational team leader who can draw people together, develop visions and implement them strategically as well as creatively. Because of the diversity of the job, social competence and diplomatic skills are needed.
The Regional Director has to travel extensively and work flexible hours. The job requires fluent written and spoken English as well as conversational understanding in either French or German. Candidates should be computer literate and have a working knowledge of administration and organizational management.
Key tasks include
·Creating a sense of belonging within SU Europe, and promoting partnerships.
·Overseeing ministry development within the Region.
·Providing support and encouragement for existing local expressions of SU ministry.
·Collation and distribution of resources, including practical assistance.
·Supervision of SU ministries in line with international guidelines and the European constitution.
